Cyberpunk 2077 will be releasing on the current generation of systems with next-gen ports slated to release sometime in 2021. Having said this, some people have been waiting to play this game for quite a long time, and likely won’t want to wait for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S ports to release. Thankfully, for those looking to buy the game on a PS4 and then transfer their progress to a PS5 for instance, there is a solution....
In the recent Cyberpunk 2077 Night City Wire Event, CDPR showed off significant parts of Cyberpunk such as the Braindance gameplay mechanic. The Braindance allows the player to investigate crime scenes akin to the Detective Mode in Batman Arkham series. Along with the Braindance gameplay mechanic, a new character was introduced in the game to the fans: Judy Alvarez. “Judy Alvarez is Night City’s premier braindance technician, heavily respected for her skills, innovation and creativity....
That should be applauded, but December 2020 and everything that followed should not be forgotten. The game was pulled from the PlayStation Store for a reason, and it’s no secret that the release date was a surprise to devs. Executives boldface lied to consumers, and overall, it was a very bad look that hurt CDPR. While some enjoyed it at launch, it was heavily criticized and a lot of those criticisms still stand—even if it is a much better game....
In fact, many have compared Cyberpunk 2077’s development, release, and reception to Anthem, and there’s no denying the similarities. Both had high expectations, both were not ready for launch, both had a myriad of issues, and both ultimately let a lot of people down. After Anthem’s cancellation, it seems some have taken to the thought that its the same road Cyberpunk 2077 is headed for: cancellation. Context and key differences between the two games, though, would suggest that the end stop for both games doesn’t have to be the same....
This is because Microsoft has decided to end its refund policy for Cyberpunk 2077 on the Xbox platforms. Normally, digital purchases are considered final, although Microsoft’s policy states that some refunds may be eligible depending on the circumstances. In Cyberpunk 2077’s case, though, Microsoft has been allowing players to refund digital copies of the game from the Microsoft Store in full since December, shortly after its release, making it quite the outlier....
On Reddit, user Magired1234 shared screenshots of a conversation they had with Cyberpunk 2077’s lead quest designer, Paweł Sasko, over Twitter direct messages. In the DMs, Sasko said that romance in the game will be “similar to how Witcher 3 was” and fans can expect “whole plotlines” for a love interest character. The developer also teased Cyberpunk 2077’s love scenes, explaining that in The Witcher 3, when NPCs were treated well and liked protagonist Geralt “something was happening ;)”....
By June 2019, the developer had apparently finished this process of looking into a non-binary character creator for Cyberpunk 2077, as CDPR co-founder Marcin Iwinski confirmed that the Cyberpunk character creation tool would be built around gender fluidity. Iwinski once again emphasized that the creator that was shown in the Cyberpunk E3 2018 demo was not representative of the final product and stated that the completed character creator would allow for “full fluidity....
This beginning bombardment sets an annoying precedent for just how strangely Cyberpunk 2077 handles most of its side quests. Consistently throughout each playthrough, regardless of the life path chosen, V receives calls and text messages left and right from seemingly random avatars. These are fixers and other characters the player hasn’t even been properly introduced to, and yet they’re all calling up V like they know them well. Even after Cyberpunk 2077’s lengthy prologue, this problem only gets worse as the game repeatedly reminds players that this is an open world RPG, as if desperately trying to convince players that they should keep playing....
