An important factor in Cyberpunk 2077’s resurgence was the Edgerunners anime spinoff on Netflix. Coupled with Patch 1.6 which brought the game closer to CD Projekt Red’s initial vision, it made a lot of players come back to play a game once riddled with bugs that was now mostly cleaned up. Much like modern Bethesda games, Cyberpunk 2077’s scope is wide enough that sometimes a few glitches still pass through developer scrutiny and internal testing....

Cyberpunk 2077 managed to maintain a motley of fans following the controversial launch nearly two years ago, but the once very anticipated game risked falling into relative obscurity. That was until earlier this year when a perfect storm converged consisting of consistent updates, a major expansion announcement, and an anime considered one of the best video game adaptations of all time. Cyberpunk 2077’s player count skyrocketed, boasting 1 million active players each day for four consecutive weeks, registering a resurgence that many had written off....

Despite not being available on the PlayStation Store for around six months, Cyberpunk 2077 has done enormously well on the PS4. In the PlayStation Store chart, the game beat out the likes of many fan favorites, including GTA 5 in the US and Canada, and FIFA 21 in Europe. The reason for this could be down to the sheer number of PlayStation owners who went ahead and purchased the game as soon as it became available again....

Cyberpunk 2077 aims to be a next-gen defining RPG, synthesizing the freedom and customization of games like Skyrim with the tightly constructed narratives of a game like The Witcher 3 or a BioWare title. It’s a huge task, but Cyberpunk can’t just look at the successes of the past few years to understand how to pull it off. CD Projekt Red should learn one big lesson from Fallout 4 when it comes to its customization, a lesson which, if not learned, could have a hugely detrimental effect on the game....

A series of major updates were released intermittently in the time since release which have made the game more stable and playable. Now, in a surprise relaunch, CD Project Red have released a new update for the next-gen release of Cyberpunk 2077 that focuses not just on stability, but bringing in gameplay features and graphical fidelity that were promised in the game’s pre-release gameplay reveals.
