The deal comes with a second season of Murphy’s other recent Netflix hit The Watcher, also based on a true story. Both Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and The Watcher are created by Murphy with his American Horror Story co-creator Ian Brennan. According to Netflix, the new installments of the Monster franchise will tell the stories of other monstrous figures who have impacted society.

Murphy’s success with a number of shows, like FX’s American Horror Story and American Crime Story, has collected a fervour of interest in his new projects. “Audiences can’t take their eyes off Monster and The Watcher. The creative team of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan on Monster along with Eric Newman on The Watcher are masterful storytellers who captivated audiences all over the world,” said Bela Bajaria, Head of Global TV, Netflix. “The back-to-back force of these two series is due to Ryan’s distinct original voice which created cultural sensations and we are thrilled to continue telling stories in the Monster and Watcher universes.”
