This is the basis of the Don’t Lose Your Mind side quest in Cyberpunk 2077, where V will need to make a difficult decision that has three pathways and endings. Below is a result of each of those endings and how they can influence the overall ending to Cyberpunk 2077.
Updated on September 10, 2022, by Ritwik Mitra: Cyberpunk 2077 has seen its fair share of patches and updates that have remedied a bunch of issues that plagued the game since its release. Players who rev up the game now will enjoy a great experience as they tear through Night City and uncover an amazing story that will keep them on the edge of their seats till the very end.
A big part of what makes the world of Cyberpunk 2077 feel more fleshed out and engaging is the wide variety of engaging side quests that players can check out in this amazing game, all of which are wildly entertaining in their own right. The quests provided by Delamain are especially quite engaging, with Don’t Lose Your Mind serving as the last side activity featuring this AI construct. Here’s everything players need to know about the final decision present in this quest and what options they can choose to conclude a truly riveting side story.
Don’t Lose Your Mind
While Delamain believes the issue is the result of some kind of virus, it seems that his clones want to be set free. Resetting the Delamain system would result in deleting the virus, if that’s what’s causing this problem, but would seemingly delete the clones completely. Johnny suggests to V that this could be destroying sentient beings. The clones, on the other hand, want to destroy the main Delamain core so they can finally be free.

Cyberpunk 2077 will give V the option to reset the core as Delamain wants, but Johnny, who compares this act to murdering a cab driver’s kids, will suggest a third option: force the personalities to merge with Delamain. This leaves V with three options that result in three different endings to this Cyberpunk 2077 quest. All options result in V obtaining a free Delamain cab to keep.
Force Personalities To Merge
Choosing this option requires V to have Level 10 Intelligence. Johnny will like this choice, which can help lead to the secret Cyberpunk 2077 ending, though not as much if V chooses to destroy the core. This option will force all personalities that V met while driving around in the Epistrophy quests to become one within Delamain.
The new Delamain will decide that it no longer wants to be in Night City and leaves, but leaves behind a new free vehicle for V: a taxi with a more personable, child-like version of the Delamain AI controlling it. Most people consider this to be the best option in Cyberpunk 2077, but the requirement of 10 Intelligence might thwart most people from enjoying this ideal conclusion. In such a situation, players will need to choose the other two solutions for this quest, although this isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
Destroy The Core
This is what Johnny wants V to choose, so he’ll love this option. The option to destroy the core won’t pop up as a prompt in yellow text. Rather, V will need to step back and destroy it using a weapon. Afterward, the different taxi cabs can be seen leaving the garage and will thank V for freeing them. Fortunately, Delamain himself isn’t quite dead. Johnny will point out the lone cab left in the garage and after investigating, it’s the same Delamain Excelsior cab that escorted V and Jackie Welles during the heist.

This is the decision that players should take if they love the split personalities of Delamain that they’ve interacted with in the game. Each of these unique AI constructs has memorable moments in the game, and the idea of killing them all off after they’ve achieved sentience can be pretty cold. As a result, players who destroy the core will attain the approval of both Johnny and the Delamains, who get to run rampant in Night City with their new personalities.
Reset The Core
Johnny will be upset with V if they choose to reset the core, so keep this in mind in regards to Cyberpunk’s secret ending. This will permanently shut down all of the separate Delamain AIs. Delamain won’t remember V but will thank them for their help in deleting the virus by giving them one of his cabs.
Players can opt for this decision if they don’t put too much stock in the idea of AI sentience, which is a fair stance to take (even if Johnny himself isn’t a huge fan of this stance). It also brings back the original version of Delamain, despite him not being aware of this notable incident. However, do keep in mind that many people consider this to be the worst way to deal with the quest since it discards the feelings of the other AI constructs and treats them as nothing more than disposable commodities.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
