Circling back to the game’s delay, CD Projekt Red said in a lengthy post that it needed more time to develop the game and bring it to a level of quality that fans deserve. Given its November release date, the studio also confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 should launch with the PS5 and Xbox Series X. While the specific release dates of the next-generation consoles are still unknown, CD Projekt Red’s announcement suggests that the new consoles may launch near Cyberpunk 2077’s release date. Of course, both Sony and Microsoft have previously set a release window of Holiday 2020, which begins in late November.

Moreover, CD Projekt Red also confirmed that the current-generation version of Cyberpunk 2077 will be compatible with both the PS5 and Xbox Series X. This means that players who will purchase either a PS4 or Xbox One copy of Cyberpunk 2077 will be able to play that same version on their next-gen counterparts. To add to the good news, the studio also announced that the game will have next-generation optimizations for better performance on both the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Despite the delay, the hype for Cyberpunk 2077 is only growing. Just recently, CD Projekt Red released a 25-minute gameplay footage of Cyberpunk 2077, allowing fans to have a peek of the upcoming game. The latest footage delved into the game’s intriguing story and also showed off the vast open-world environment that CD Projekt Red has been building. While the latest gameplay footage isn’t final, the game already looks amazing, making the additional two months of waiting worth it.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be released for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on November 19, with PS5, Stadia, and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
