A post on Twitter from the official Cyberpunk 2077 has confirmed an upcoming online broadcast for Tuesday, September 6, at 8:00 AM PT/12:00 PM ET. The latest Night City Wire event will have two primary focuses, according to the announcement. The first focus will be on Edgerunners, the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 anime that will begin airing on Netflix starting September 13. The second focus will be “what’s next” for Cyberpunk 2077.

To be clear, there’s no official mention of a Cyberpunk 2077 expansion. “What’s next” for Cyberpunk 2077 could mean a variety of different things, including further free updates focusing on content or quality. There are also tie-in projects like Cyberpunk 2077: Gangs of Night City, a board game spin-off launching in 2023, which could be mentioned. Cyberpunk 2077 remains a massive property with a lot of potential opportunities in the future.

Expectations are that CD Projekt Red will officially unveil its expansion during the event, though. Details were leaked earlier this year, revealing the Cyberpunk 2077 expansion’s story and mission structure for fans willing to be spoiled. The official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account even teased upcoming news about an expansion as recently as August.

The development of a Cyberpunk 2077 expansion is by no means a secret, even ignoring the leaks. CD Projekt Red’s parent company confirmed during financial reports in April and May that around half of the studio’s development resources were dedicated to a Cyberpunk 2077 expansion. The expansion was even confirmed for a tentative release window in 2023. While no specific information was shared at the time, fans were told to expect further announcements later in 2022.

Suffice to say, Cyberpunk 2077 fans are expecting news regarding the expansion soon and the upcoming Night City Wire broadcast presents the biggest opportunity for that unveiling yet. If CD Projekt Red doesn’t share more information about the Cyberpunk 2077 expansion, it’ll cause a new controversy on its own. There’s really no reason not to believe the Cyberpunk 2077 expansion won’t be a part of the September 6 broadcast at this point, though.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
