That hasn’t stopped Massive Monster from continuing to support and release regular updates for Cult of the Lamb, even celebrating Halloween with a Blood Moon Festival event that gave players access to some new follower forms. And in 2023, fans have the Relics of the Old Faith event to look forward to, though just what that will entail hasn’t been revealed yet.

Massive Monster has at least two major content updates for Cult of the Lamb planned for 2023, and this patch is a precursor to the first, Relics of the Old Faith. Update 1.1.0 gives players some basic options that were missing at launch, such as the ability to rename the cult and rebind controller buttons, but it also implements some accessibility or quality-of-life improvements, like auto-fishing and auto-cooking. Both of these skills in the game require some precise timing and quick button presses, so adding the auto function should make them easier to pull off.
Another major change to Cult of the Lamb with this latest content update will let players Bless, Inspire, and Intimidate multiple followers at once. A central premise of Cult of the Lamb is gathering followers and managing their lives. This includes sending them on pilgrimages to collect goodies, assigning them tasks like farming or building, and keeping them happy or well behaved. The latter is accomplished by blessing, inspiring, or intimidating them to gain loyalty, but when there are dozens of little followers wandering around, it can become overwhelming to interact with them one by one.
Besides the gameplay enhancements that come with Update 1.1.0, Massive Monster has ironed out a few issues that could crop up occasionally. Cult of the Lamb had some pretty major bugs when it first launched, some of which prevented people from playing the game at all, particularly on Nintendo Switch. The most egregious of these were addressed relatively promptly, and now a few more of the persistent ones have been dealt with as well.
Despite not earning the title of Best Indie at The Game Awards 2022, Cult of the Lamb did win that prize at the Golden Joystick Awards, received a number of accolades at the Australian Game Developer Awards, and got generally positive reviews across the board. And according to the updated developer roadmap, there’s plenty more to come for the indie game.
Cult of the Lamb is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
