RELATED: Cult Of The Lamb: Pro Tips For Combat

Being a cult leader and a supernatural being, the Lamb has magical powers known as Curses that can also be used to damage their enemies, and there are also several conventional weapons at the hero’s disposal. There are no “magical” weapons in the game since one of the quirks of the rogue-like design is that every run is slightly different, so weapons are granted temporary powers and abilities that can be changed later.

The types of weapons that players will find at earlier levels are listed here first, followed by weapons that the Lamb will find as they gain more followers and take on the Old World Bishops. Players can use different builds of weapons and Curses depending on what kind of Cult leader they want to be.

5 Swords

The very first weapon players will find is the trusty Crusader’s Blade, which comes up in the initial tutorial dungeon. This is also where the Lamb first meets important NPCs like Ratau and is gifted a handy plot for building their personal temple.

With the most well-rounded qualities when it comes to speed, range, and damage, it’s the best weapon to start with while training with other abilities. As the Lamb rises in levels, they can wield the Bane Sword, which deals poison damage, or the Vampiric Sword, which sucks the life from its victims and gives it to the wielder.

4 Daggers

Faster than swords but better in damage, the dagger is more useful after the player has learned to use the Dodge ability. Equipping a dagger allows the player to damage their enemies as quickly as they can move between them.

When the Lamb first ventures into Darkwood, they’ll start to find daggers as well as Tarot Cards. These are either available from the Tarot Card dealer Clauneck or chests and can be used to enhance the Lamb’s existing abilities.

3 Axes

These will be offered to the Lamb once they’ve been to Darkwood a few times, and they will find them in the wilds of Anura. The ax is slower than a sword and a dagger, but does more damage and has a better range.

RELATED: Cult Of The Lamb: Beginner Tips & TricksBy the time the player has ventured into Anura, they’ll have abilities like Bane and Vampiric that can be applied to weapons. Vampiric can return the hit points that it takes from the target back to the wielder, which means the ax can heal as much as it hurts. There might be a parallel in this philosophy with leading a cult.

2 Gauntlets

The Lamb will start finding gauntlets in Darkwood after they defeat Leshy. They’ll also come across them when entering the realm of Anura to pursue the second Bishop Heket. They aren’t very impressive at first, dealing little damage unless the player has already mastered certain hit combinations.

When combined with an ability like Bane, which does damage over time, the gauntlets are more useful. Necromantic is a nice ability for those who don’t like to fight alone, raising the ghost of a slain enemy to fight for the Lamb. Merciless gives the player a better chance to do a critical hit, so the longer a player can keep a combo going, the more damage they can do.

1 Hammers

Hammers do more damage than any other weapon, but they are also the heaviest and move the slowest. These are the weapons that the Lamb doesn’t have the strength to wield until they have enough followers to enter the realms of Anchordeep and Silk Cradle. They might come up in the other realms after the enemies have been cleared.

Despite the lack of speed, the hammer not only has a wide range and often hits more than one enemy. Players will find that the earlier dungeons will not only raise the difficulty level by sending in tougher enemies but also by increasing the amount of them after the boss has been defeated. By the time the Lamb reaches this level, they will have to be able to strike a balance between speed and damage, both AoE and melee, making the hammer a good choice.
